The StyloPhone Is Back!
The Stylophone was called “the electronic organ in your pocket” in the 1970’s. They were so popular that over three million were sold. What is a Stylophone (you ask in a nervous tone)? Well, it was a little battery operated instrument in a box with transistors, diodes, and other old electronic circuitry of the time. In order for it to make a sound, you had to press the stylus against the various metal keys in order to close the circuit, and it would make a wierd sound, sort of like an electronic squeal. Well good news for all you Stylophone Artists. There is now a new re-issued version, just like the original, EXCEPT it has a few added high tech goodies. Like being able to control the volume (you couldn’t on the original), and a vibrato knob. Believe it or not, these gadgets were known to be used by some rock bands to spicen up some of their recordings! Far Out!
