There is a device that has been widely used for several years now by rescue teams, called The Jaws Of Life. They use this device to cut through mangled cars to rescue people. The Controlled Impact Rescue Tool, developed by Raytheon as part of a Department of Homeland Security program, is a 100-pound rescue device that is designed to create shock waves that can shatter through concrete walls in just 13 minutes. Right now, with the methods we have available, it takes at least half an hour to do such a job. The rig is designed to be operated by two people. Raytheon has not set a price for the unit yet, but it will be soon available to fire and rescue units.
