Here is an iPod docking station that is a little different. It looks like it will get up and soar into the outer limits at any time if you press the remote. It also comes in a black version. However one of the downsides I see is that the speakers are only 1.9 watts. Not too much power there to drive your favorite tunes. Right now, it’s only available in Europe, but a Stateside release is coming soon, it is said. One thing that you have to admit, though. This docking station is different than most.

Here is a gadget that I promise (almost) will only do half of what it says it will do. But, don’t take my word for it. If you want to squeeze out (no pun intended) the $184.00 to try it out, and it does work, please let me know. The Mpion is an MP3 player which holds 128 Megs of music (not much). Not only that, it claims to have the ability to get rid of acne as you hold it up to your face. It releases positive and negatively charged ions to do this task. Here are the instructions:
“Touch the device to the offending area as you listen to tunes, flip the switch to Minus, and hold for five to 10 minutes. Allegedly, the negative ions open pores and replenish moisture. Then, flip it to Positive and hold to reduce oil and close your pores back up. “

Remember the 60’s? Love, Peace, FlowerPower, you know the rest. Or perhaps you are too young, and don’t know what the heck I am talking about. Here is your chance to dress up your iPod with some of those far out flowers from the 60’s. It’s called the FlowerVest.
“Available in pink with pink flowers or brown with blue flowers, these cases are made of soft silicon, with the Nano version featuring a clear polycarbonate lens to protect the nano’s screen. The cases retail for $39.99 for the Touch version and $19.99 for the Nano version.”
Can You Dig It?

Wind up radios are pretty handy to have when you don’t have that electrical outlet or electricity handy. The guy that designed these devices, Trevor Baylis has came up with a hand-cranked media player. The website states “First seen in August last year, the Baylis Eco Media Player looks to combine the very latest technology with good old-fashioned elbow grease in an eco-friendly package.”
It’s a bit more bulky than the normal media player, but one minute of winding gives you about 20 minutes of juice to play music, and about 10 minutes of music. It’s Green Friendly!
Music is great when you are working out. It pumps you up, and gets your adrenalin flowing. The Mobile Theme Music Sound System is the perfect accessory for your iPod or MP3 player. It has a durable case, which has a compartment where you can store your favorite player. Velcro straps secure it to things such as your handlebars or your barbell at the gym. The speaker is powered directly from the 3mm headphone jack of your media player.

Coby is know for inexpensive but pretty good quality electronics. The company has introduced their own touch screen MP3 player that may just compete with the iPod Touch. The MP-835 has a design very similar. It comes with a 480 x 272 wide screen TFT LCD screen that sports “intuitive” touch screen controls. It comes with either 2GB or 4GB which can be expanded via a MicroSD slot, which is pretty cool, and something that the iPod Touch doesn’t have. The MP-835 also plays FM radio and supports WMA, OGG, and MP3 music files, AVI and WMV video files, photos, text files, and popular subscription services. If it is anything like the current Coby products, price will be much lower than the iPod Touch. I think it looks pretty snazzy myself!

DLO, who makes neoprene iPod cases have introduced their compact and powerful DLO Portable Speakers for the iPhone. Now your music and videos can be enjoyed in stereo without worry of the TDMA interface. The small units feature an extra wide sound stage and bass vents to deliver that thumping sound. Your iPhone can sit either horizontally or vertically on the removable rotating stand. And the Portable Speakers can be turned into a speaker phone to answer calls. Each speaker snaps into the base to create a “ball” approximately 6 inches in diameter. No tangle troubles as the base features a recessed area for keeping cords securely wrapped and out of the way when not in use.
Here is an inexpensive MP3 player just for your kids. The My Player Kids MP3 Player is the cheapest one I have ever found. And it has some extras built into it. It has 9 games including Drum It, Snack Attack, Bobble Goods, Slider, and more. And you can change the faceplates. It also has a voice recorder, and you can create your own screen saver! The only drawback is it just has 32mb of internal memory, enough to hold about 20 minutes of music. But for the price, its a great deal!
Dolby and SRS Labs announced at the Mobile World Congress separate enhancements to mobile audio. Dolby Mobile, hailed as an “audio processing technology platform that brings rich, vibrant surround sound to music, movies, and television programs on mobile phones and portable media players,” is now available in Japan. SRS Labs has its own SRS CS Headphone technology which “takes stereo or surround encoded 2-channel audio and processes it using an ultra-low-power Circle Surround decoder to create 5.1 highly accurate channels.” all on your mobile. Surround sound on a cell phone? And we thought mono sound was distracting enough while driving.

I love those wind-up emergency flashlights and radios. And now, a company has introduced this technology to a different type of device. The Trevor Baylis Eco Media Player is a full function media player with 2GB of storage for music and video, plus an FM radio, in-line encoding from any media source, built-in LED torch light, and speaker. And guess what? It can charge your mobile phone, all from winding the crank.
The Eco player is about $254 from the Ethical Super Store.
