EPOS Digital Pen and USB Drive

epos digital penDigital Pens are coming on the electronic scene more and more these days. They are pretty cool, because they can take your handwritten material and turn it into text. Several are on the market, one is called the Fly Fusion, which requires a special notepad to work. But the nice thing about the EPOS Digital Pen is that it can use any paper.

According to the website “All a user has to do is clip a special device onto a top of a piece of paper like a clipboard, and then use the special pen. Then the device attaches to the computer via USB and the user can download his or her drawings or writings.”

Like all the handwriting recognition software, it’s not perfect yet. But it is quickly improving.

capsule usb keyEverybody loves those little USB Flash Drives. But most of them all look the same. If you hang one on your neck, it is all to obvious what is there. And you probably have a lot of important data on that little flash drive. Here is a gadget that helps stop prying eyes from seeing just what you have on your neck or on that keychain. It’s a capsule Shaped USB Flash Drive.

Features

* Two Gigabytes of flash memory storage
* USB 1.1 and USB 2.0
* Brushed aluminum finish
* Screw-cap enclosure

Two Gigs, huh? That’s quite a bit of storage.

HARV Brings Human Telepresence To Robot Battlefields

In the battlefield, Robots play a very important role. They are very expendable, compared to living human beings. But when these robots are operated, it is difficult for the operator to see as the robot sees. This device comes to the rescue. “Chatten Associates has created a camera system designed to provide robot operators with a real telepresence; that is, feeling as though they’re in the robot’s shoes”

Pretty cool idea.

Will we ever be able to keep up with all of this new technology? Just when we thought we were about to get comfortable with HD TV here comes something else. The Astro Systems DM-3400.

“This 56 inch behemoth looks like a standard LCD display at first glance, but it actually offers 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, making it meant to be used in digital cinemas, editing studios and broadcast facilities. Features include a quartet of DV-D inputs and an equal amount of HD-SDI inputs.”

Obviously this is not ment to be placed in your living room, and will probably be used professionally for quite some time.

Samsung’s New See’N'Search Set-Top Box

samsung webtvRemember WebTV? Hey, I subscribed, at one time, and I found it very useful, for what it was. To surf the web, and utilize your email. Well Samsung has a new idea with its SeeNSearch Set Top Box.

According to the website “Just as a consumer would search a channel guide to see what’s on and when, Samsung’s See’N'Search set-top box uses the same information, in addition to the closed caption metadata that is present for most programming, to scour existing Internet content (HTML coding, Web video, etc.) and make recommendations that would appeal to the user. To do this, the system monitors the contents of the program being watched, using lightweight natural language technologies to determine the topics that are being discussed. When the user presses the “More Info” button, the See’N'Search UI appears on-screen with related information or media that the system found on the Internet. The consumer simply selects a piece of content from any particular topic, and See’N'Search takes them directly to that content.”

But it sounds like interactive tv to me. How new is that?

Pedalite Pedals

pedaliteIt’s tough sometimes for you to be seen at night when you’re riding your bike. Especially if you have dark clothing on, and no reflective devices on your ride. These pedals help to alleviate that problem and light you up a little. According to the website “These kinetic energy powered (no batteries, ever!) 360 degree light-up pedals simply replace your boring old pedals, and light your feet up like a Christmas tree. As well as standard reflectors, the pedals have three integral bright LEDs, one facing forwards, one backwards, and one sidewards – or rather sideways. As you pedal, kinetic energy powers up the LED’s which flash brightly away, and the great thing about these is that this energy is stored in the pedals, so even as you free wheel or stop at a crossing (of course you do…) the pedals continue to flash for up to five minutes!”

Sounds like an enlightening idea to me!

Send Text Messages With The D:Scribe Pen (Concept)

dscribeI text message quite often. It just makes sense to me to text when I don’t really want to talk, or don’t have time to have a phone conversation with someone. But I am not very good at it, even though I do it several times a day. Here is a great concept gadget. The D:Scribe is a pen that recognizes your handwriting, and sends SMS messages that you scribble down. It communicates with your phone via Bluetooth to send the messages. It can also store your doodles, which can be retrieved on your computer at a later time. I hope this thing becomes a reality.
